In April 2016, the Chair of the Joint Committee on Human Rights wrote to the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP regarding a British Bill of Rights and inviting him to give oral evidence to the Committee on 25 May 2016.
The House of Lords European Union Committee has heavily criticised Government proposals to scrap the Human Rights Act and replace it with a British Bill of Rights in their report released in May 2016.
On 9 May 2016, the Joint Committee on Human Rights published its report on the joint Pre Appointment Hearing for the new Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
David Isaac’s appointment as the new Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission was confirmed in April 2016.
