Working Families and Bright Horizons published their 2017 Modern Families Index in January 2017. The report captures a broad picture of fathers wanting to take an active part in childcare and of workplaces failing to adapt and support their aspirations.
The Women and Equalities Committee produced a report on women in the House of Commons after the 2020 election in January 2017. This report argued that “the under-representation of women MPs does not only represent a serious democratic deficit.”
The Mental Health Taskforce produced The Five Year Forward View for Mental Health in February 2016, making 58 recommendations to achieve parity of esteem between mental and physical health. The Government responded in January 2017.
The Social Mobility Commission published a report on ethnicity, gender and social mobility in December 2016. The report provided an analysis of the effect gender, ethnicity and socio-economic status have on life chances in the education system and labour market.
The House of Commons Select Committee on Women and Equalities (WESC) published a report on employment opportunities for Muslims in the UK in July 2016, making 17 recommendations to tackle disadvantage in this area. The Government responded in December 2016.
An interactive tool that allows the public to find out the gender pay gap for their occupation was launched by the Minister for Women and Equalities, Justine Greening, in December 2016.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission published its guidance on religion or belief in the workplace in December 2016. The guidance is part of a suite of final products from the Commission’s three-year programme of work on religion or belief, and includes their report ‘Religion or belief – is the law working?’
The European Women’s Lobby published a December 2016 report on Brexit and women’s rights.
The Government launched a consultation on reforming the Employment Tribunal system in December 2016. The consultation closes at noon on 21 January 2017.
