European Project: ‘My Rights My Voice’

Learning Disability Wales are partners in an exciting and innovative three-year European Project with five other countries called ‘My Rights My Voice’.

A training programme is being developed (led by Austria) in consultation with people with learning disabilities, service providers and educational settings. Learning Disability Wales have consulted with Vale People First, Caerphilly People First, Cartrefi Cymru, Mencap Cymru and Perthyn.

Twelve people with learning disabilities and three people without learning disabilities will be recruited in each country to become trainers. They will be invited to attend a five-day train the trainer programme. Austria will deliver this training in each country. From this, a three-day training course will be developed where trainers will train staff working with people with learning disabilities in service provider settings. The overall aim of the project is to have the training course accredited and included in college courses.
