Update on the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill

Background information

The Criminal Justice and Courts Bill had its first reading on 5 February 2014. The Bill includes proposals for changes to judicial review.

In June 2014, the Equality and Diversity Forum published a briefing on the implications for access to justice of the proposed changes to judicial review in the Bill.

Also in June 2014, the Joint Committee on Human Rights published a Legislative Scrutiny report on the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill, and the Deregulation Bill.

The Government published an Impact Assessment of the Bill on 18 June 2014.

Government defends proposal to make ‘interveners’ liable for judicial review costs was published in Third Sector on 12 September 2014.
