Age UK published their report, ‘Hidden in Plain Sight – the unmet mental health needs of older people’, in October 2016. Using data from 55 mental health trusts as well as 130 clinical commissioning groups in England, this report shows that current provision of support is insufficient for both the needs at present and in the face of a rapidly ageing society.
The Government published the results of the 2014-15 English housing survey in July 2016. It collects information about people’s housing circumstances and the condition and energy efficiency of housing in England.
Marie Curie published a report in June 2016 on end of life care for LGBT people. ‘Hiding who I am: Exposing the reality of end of life care for LGBT people’ looks at the barriers that prevent LGBT people from accessing end of life care and highlights their real-life experiences.
Carers UK published a report on building carer-friendly communities in June 2016. The research report, launched for Carers Week 2016, found that the life chances of many of the 6.5 million people in the UK who care, unpaid, for a disabled, older or ill family member or friend, are being affected by inadequate support from local services.
