The Lammy Review into BAME representation in the criminal justice system has launched its call for evidence. The review will look at the way the CJS deals with young people and adults from BAME backgrounds. The review published an interim report in November 2016.
The Government published a green paper, ‘Improving Lives’, on work, disability and health in October 2016. The Government also launched an open consultation seeking views on what it will take to transform employment prospects for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. The consultation is open until 17 February 2017.
The Women and Equalities Select Committee published a report on equalities impact assessments around the 2015 Spending Review and Autumn Statement in November 2016.
The Scottish Parliament Information Centre published a briefing on the impact of Brexit on equalities and human rights in October 2016. The briefing considers the impact Brexit will have on equalities and human rights. The focus is on legislation which has a basis in EU law, the protections currently offered, and what this could mean in the future.
The Social Mobility Commission published its State of the Nation report and executive summary for 2016 in November 2016. The report assesses the progress that Great Britain has made towards improving social mobility.
The Institute for Public Policy Research launched a Commission on Economic Justice in November 2016. The Commission will last for two years, publishing its final report in autumn 2018.
NatCen Social Research published research, commissioned by UNISON, into the implications of public spending reductions on LGBT people and services in November 2016.
In October 2016 a Universities UK taskforce published its report, ‘Changing the culture’, examining violence against women, harassment and hate crime affecting university students.
Leonard Cheshire Disability published a report, ‘The State of Social Care in Great Britain 2016’, in November 2016. The report looks at the state of social care in Britain today and how a crisis in social care is impacting on the lives of disabled people across the country.
