Ministry of Justice policy paper: Education and Employment Strategy 2018

Not only are many ex-offenders often unprepared for employment on release in terms of their skills and training, but there remains a stigma among some  employers about hiring people with a criminal conviction.

The ministry of Justice have launched a May 2018 strategy (pdf) to help adult prisoners develop their learning and skills and secure and sustain employment after they leave custody.

Despite progress towards greater gender equality, significant inequalities persist in the way that childcare responsibilities are divided up and shared, with women in the UK doing on average about twice as much childcare as men.

Government Equalities Office policy paper and upcoming consultation: The Future Operation of Civil Partnership – Gathering Further Information

The Government Equalities Office announced that it will consult on the future of civil partnerships.

This is from their May 2018 policy paper (pdf) which sets out  plans for a new consultation to assess whether there is still enough demand for civil partnerships among same-sex couples, now that marriages are available to them.  And whether there is demand for civil partnerships amongst opposite-sex couples.
