The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) is conducting research into how public funds can be used most effectively to support the mobility needs of disabled people. They are currently gathering evidence to help underpin their research via a consultation, launched November 2019. The closing date for the consultation is 3 December 2019.
The research is focused on whether current investment – including the Motability scheme and the mobility components of Disability Living Allowance and Personal Independence Payments – is the most effective way to meet the mobility needs of people with disabilities.
The SSAC is particularly keen to hear from people with disabilities, their families and carers, and charities or organisations who support people with disabilities. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has experience of and evidence on the Motability scheme.
