‘Because of the dire state that prisons are in, injustices and disproportionality continue unchecked,’ says an October 2017 report from Runnymede and the University of Greenwich’.

Have prisons become a dangerous place? (pdf) explores disproportionality, safety and mental health in British Prisons.

It concludes that despite the efforts of prison regimes to operate fairly, the principles of decency and equality have become lost in restricted regimes and diminished by far-reaching staff cuts.
