In January 2012, the Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) published a briefing on ‘Equality and a UK Bill of Rights’ to inform members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Equalities
Evidence submitted to the parliamentary Inquiry into the implementation of the right of disabled people to independent living is available on the Parliament website.
Speaking at an EDF event, Thomas Hammarberg, the European Commissioner for Human Rights, warned that watering down British laws ‘would send a dangerous signal to undemocratic states’.
In January 2012, the EHRC announced that it would use the first two age discrimination cases to be heard by the UK’s Supreme Court to argue for clarification of the law.
