Joseph Rowntree Foundation podcast: Is anyone listening?

‘When it comes to talking about poverty you often have a quite distorted narrative.’

This is from the first episode of Is Anyone Listening, a new podcast launched November 2011 from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), hosted by Ayesha Hazarika MBE. The podcast aims to amplify the voices of people living on low incomes, and get the real story on what it’s like living in poverty in the UK.

Two years after the UK’s EU referendum, 14 million people in the UK are still living in poverty, unable to think about building a better future. The UK is now reporting the first sustained rises in child poverty in decades.

In the first episode of Is Anyone Listening, Ayesha Hazarika speaks to people with lived experience of poverty to get their views on Brexit and what their lives will look like after we leave the EU.
