We are seeking an experienced partner to support our newly formed programme team to explore how they can put authentic co-design and a rights-based approach into practice when working with people experiencing discrimination and disadvantage.
We see this as an important opportunity to establish the culture and ways of working for the programme from the outset. Rather than approaching co-design and rights-based practice simply as concepts to be learned, we want the team to experience and explore these principles together, consider what they mean in practice, and begin to identify how they should shape the programme.
We are looking for a facilitator who can create a safe, challenging and supportive environment in which the team can draw on their existing knowledge and experience, test ideas, ask difficult questions and develop a shared understanding.
Programme context
We are due to commence a new five-year, UK-wide partnership programme funded through the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund.
The programme responds to growing evidence that climate-related emergencies, including extreme heat, flooding, fire, cold and severe weather, disproportionately impact marginalised communities, while those same communities are often excluded from resilience planning and decision-making.

Together, the partnership will strengthen climate resilience by ensuring that communities experiencing discrimination and disadvantage are at the heart of climate preparedness, response, recovery and policymaking. We aim to shift practices and policies of the resilience sector at the local and national level, ensuring that the way in which it operates truly adopts a whole-of-society approach, that meets the needs, respects and values everyone.
Through a rights-based and co-designed approach, the programme seeks to shift climate resilience policy and practice away from models that frame communities as “vulnerable”, and towards approaches grounded in agency, participation, equality and shared responsibility.
We are open to shaping the approach collaboratively with the successful provider. We are particularly interested in finding a partner who can help us make this first step meaningful and who can support us to ensure that the way we work internally reflects the principles we want to see embedded throughout the programme.
