Government consultation on procurement and the Equality Duty

On 27 February 2015, the Government published a consultation inviting views on the proposal to revise best value statutory guidance to include further guidance on the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty in relation to public sector procurement.

It is suggested that best value authorities should avoid ‘gold-plating’ the Act. The government also proposes that revised guidance should make it clear that councils should not fund extremist organisations.

The consultation closed on 20 March2015.
