Friends, Families and Travellers have announced their 2020 awards to honour the achievements of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers. They are seeking nominations of inspiring individuals who have made a special contribution to society and their own communities.
Nominations close 17 January 2020, and the awards will be held 6 March 2020.
The awards cover six categories:
- Inspirational Young Person Award
- Arts, Culture and Heritage Award
- Sporting Excellence Award
- The Education Award
- Inspiring Project Award
- Alexander Award for Lifetime Achievement
The awards are open to Romany Gypsies, Irish Travellers, Scottish Gypsy/Travellers, Welsh Gypsies and Travellers, New Travellers, Liveaboard Boaters, Roma people and Travelling Showpeople. The winner for each category will be chosen by a panel of community members, as well as Friends, Families and Travellers staff and trustees.
