EDF seminar on ‘Competing interests and equality rights’

On 13 November 2008, the Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) held a seminar on ‘Competing interests and equality rights’ to discuss the first draft of a paper by Maleiha Malik, commissioned by EDF.

The seminar was held at Inner Temple London. Participants included lawyers, academics, government and Equality and Human Rights officials, and representatives of equality and human rights NGOs. Amanda Ariss, EDF Chief Executive, welcomed participants and chaired the event. Maleiha Malik introduced her paper before a response from the Hon Mrs Justice Cox DBE which was followed by discussion.

EDF thanks the DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission for providing funding for the publication and seminar under the European Community Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity (2007-2013).
