UK households owe £19 billion in everyday bills according to an August 2018 press release by Citizens Advice.
Citizens Advice announced that last year they helped one person every 3 minutes with bailiff issues.
They also announced a significant increase since 2011 in the proportion of debt support it provides related to household bill debts.
They are concerned that aggressive tactics by bailiffs are also having serious knock-on effects, leading to further debt and mental health problems.
Citizens Advice is calling for the government to commit to measuring the levels of household debt and the bailiff industry to be independently regulated.
