The Bach Commission on access to justice: EDF response and interim report

The Fabian Society is providing the secretariat to Lord Willy Bach’s Commission on Access to Justice, which will explore establishing access to justice as a fundamental public entitlement. The deadline for submissions passed in May 2016. In November 2016 the Commission published an interim report, ‘The crisis in the justice system in England & Wales’.

Stonewall launched a survey for LGBT young people aged 11-19 in December 2016. This survey is being carried out for Stonewall by researchers in the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge. The survey is about what life in Britain is like as an LGBT young person.

The Young Women’s Trust published a report, ‘Work It Out’, in late 2016, on effective employment support for young women. The Trust’s Work It Out service incorporates one-to-one coaching and personalised feedback on job applications to support young women in their search for work.

Government work, disability and health green paper and consultation

The Government published a green paper, ‘Improving Lives’, on work, disability and health in October 2016. The Government also launched an open consultation seeking views on what it will take to transform employment prospects for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. The consultation is open until 17 February 2017.
