Types of membership

We have three types of organisational membership that offer different levels of participation and benefit.

1. Members

Our full membership is open to national not-for-profit organisations and networks working on equality, human rights, and broader social justice issues from a rights-based perspective. And to regional and local organisations working on these issues at national policy level (for example contributing evidence to national Government consultations).

Your specific benefits:

  • Consulted onโ€ฏjoint influencing strategies and public policy positions and automatically included as a signatory to consultation responses and parliamentary briefings (opting out where appropriate on a case-by-case basis)
  • Formally members of the charity, members play an important role in governance, including eligibility toโ€ฏstand as a Trustee and vote in Board elections
  • Opportunity to join ourโ€ฏPolicy Influencing Working Group
  • Participation in our influential membersโ€™ meetings on current policy issues. Guest speakers include Secretaries of State, government officials, opinion formers and experts
  • Networking, collaboration andโ€ฏaccess to policymakers
  • Invitation to ourโ€ฏannual gatheringโ€ฏof member CEOs and Chairs to discuss and shape strategy
  • Priority for participation in our practice-change programmes
  • Priority invites to other high-profile and strategic events, including policy roundtables, and research briefings and seminarsโ€ฏto share new findings and expertise
  • Free recruitment advertisingโ€ฏon our website and through our newsletter
  • All ourโ€ฏpublications and mailings.

Given the automatic inclusion as signatory and the governance role, this membership is most suited to organisations or networks where thereโ€™s a significant level of synergy in terms of our priorities and approach, set out in our ten-year strategy, Together for social justice, and in our five-year influencing strategy.

The annual membership subscription fee is on a sliding scale according to your organisationโ€™s annual income:

  • Over ยฃ5m: ยฃ1,500
  • ยฃ1.5m โ€“ ยฃ5m: ยฃ500
  • ยฃ500k โ€“ ยฃ1.5m: ยฃ300
  • Up to ยฃ500k: ยฃ200
  • Under ยฃ50k: free

2. Associates

Our associate membership is open to any not-for-profit organisation working on equality, human rights, and broader social justice issues nationally, regionally or locally.โ€ฏ

Associates receive most of the same benefits as members, but they can only contribute views and evidence to feed into โ€“ not decide โ€“ shared priorities and public policy positions, do not play a role in governance of the network, and donโ€™t have priority for participation in our events and practice-change programmes.

This category is more suited to organisations whose work is less closely aligned with ours and who therefore prefer to opt-in on a case by case basis to shared policy positions, or who support equality and human rights but focus mainly on issues that we do not work on, or do not take a rights-based approach in their own work.

The annual associate subscription fee according to organisational income is:

  • Over ยฃ5m: ยฃ750
  • ยฃ1.5m โ€“ ยฃ5m: ยฃ200
  • ยฃ500K โ€“ ยฃ1.5m: ยฃ100
  • Up to ยฃ500k: ยฃ50
  • Under ยฃ50k: free
