WRC surveyed women’s organisations across the UK about the ongoing effects of the pandemic on their service users and their organisations.
One year on from the outbreak of Covid-19, WRC wanted to know how the women’s sector had fared, and the implications of the new social reality on their finances, as well as demand for their services and emerging needs.
Complex needs, (worsening severity and prevalence of) mental health, poverty and violence all feature strongly. Emergency funding was a lifeline to many organisations, which saw most of them at least ‘partly’ able to meet the increased demand they faced for their services. But these are longer-term issues that are grounded in structural disadvantage, so are not easy to solve. The sector needs continued funding to cope with these challenges.
