UNCRPD: Disability report

The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities examined the UK government’s progress in fulfilling its commitments to the UN convention on disabled people’s rights .

Its highly critical report concludes the UK has not done enough to ensure the convention is reflected in UK law and policy. It highlights how severe cuts to health and social care budgets have impacted disabled people’s ability to live independently; barriers to accessing justice; and significant gaps in legal protection for disability rights.
