UK signs European Convention on preventing violence against women

On 8 June 2012, the UK  became the 20th member state of the Council of Europe to sign the Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.

Responding to the news, the End Violence Against Women (EVAW) Coalition said ‘We applaud the UK Government for taking this step. It sends a clear signal internationally that violence against women is a priority and we would urge the Government to move towards ratification quickly’.
