UK Government resource: Guide to using the Social Value Model

The Government has published a Social Value Model (pdf) along with a Guide to using the Social Value Model (pdf)

From 1st January 2021 all central government departments and executive agencies will be required to explicitly evaluate social value in all procurement decisions. This takes forward a commitment in the Civil Society Strategy 2018 to review and strengthen the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.

The Government has published a Social Value Model (pdf) to guide decision-making and ensure consistency for government officials and suppliers alike. This framework identifies specific social, economic and environmental outcomes to be achieved, in line with government priorities.

The Model sits alongside a Guide to using the Social Value Model (pdf) on how to use it, including building-in social value at the pre-procurement stage, criteria for awarding contracts and reporting metrics for each policy outcome.
