This is from The Law Society’s November 2019 ‘Fix the broken system’ campaign. The campaign aims to call on the government to address the problems within the criminal justice system by adopting their policy recommendations.
The campaign highlights the current problems facing the system including, increasing shortage of criminal duty solicitors, restrictive means test for criminal legal aid, inefficiencies and unfairness in the system, and inappropriate use of Release under investigation.
