Seeking human rights stories

We all rely on our human rights when we’re at our most vulnerable – if we have a disability, or a mental health problem, if we’re in hospital or need a bit of extra care.

Equally Ours is a campaign to show the benefits of human rights for people all over the UK. We share the real stories of how human rights have made a difference in people’s lives. We’ve started by sharing stories here on our website and making our Everyday Rights film series.

Now we’re collecting more stories which show how important human rights are. We will share them with people who don’t know how vital they are, and with the media so they can tell the whole story.

Have you used human rights to challenge the way you have been treated? Have you made your voice heard when people are making decisions about the type of help or support you need? Have you experienced discrimination?

If you have a story about human rights you’d be willing to share we’d love to hear from you.

Please contact Pui-Yi Cheng on pui-yi.cheng@equallyours.org.uk with:

  • Some basic facts about the problem or issue,
  • A little bit of information about how human rights helped, and;
  • What the outcome was.

We share stories on our website, social media and use them when we talk to the press. Some of the stories could be turned into short films.

If you think you have a story to share, or want more information, please get in touch. If you’d be happier to stay anonymous that isn’t a problem.
