As you head off for a festive break we wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who’ve helped us to launch Equally Ours.
It was fantastic to see more than 100 campaigners and communicators, from large charities to small pressure groups, at our first event last month. We know human rights are an important safety net for many of the people you work with, so it’s great that there is so much commitment to making them real. If you missed the launch:

- our first briefing which provides some insight into why Equally Ours has been set up and the research which underpins our approach.
Just a quick reminder that we’re hosting a roundtable discussion about how to find stories of human rights in everyday life to feed into public debate.

This is part of a study being carried out by Alice Donald (Middlesex University) and Elizabeth Mottershaw (independent human rights consultant). There are a few places still available at the discussion so please contact Alice Donald at a.donald@mdx.ac.uk if you’d like to take part.
We are currently planning a series of events for the first six months of 2014 which will explore the themes touched on at the launch in more detail (including disability, violence against women and girls, health and social care, migration and inclusion, and children’s rights) and share insights from our second phase of audience research.
In addition, in the new year we will be publishing communications briefings and an analysis of human rights in the media, so we’ll be back in touch in January with lots more information.
