The Migration Advisory Commmittee (MAC) have launched a September 2019 call for evidence on the UK’s future immigration system, to include potential future salary thresholds, and the possibility of moving to an Australian-style ‘points-based’ system. The deadline for submitting evidence is 5 November 2019.
The MAC is considering the impact of salary thresholds on a range of areas including resident workers, migrant workers, the supply of labour and effects on the economy. They are also looking at potential regional variation in salary thresholds, how to deal with jobs of high value but low wages, potential allowances for part-time workers, and more.
