King’s, EDF and EDF Research Network Anglo-German Dialogue

On 17 January 2013, King’s College London, the Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) and the EDF Research Network held an ‘Anglo-German Dialogue on Equality and Human Rights’.

The event was a rare opportunity to explore the different approaches, successes and obstacles to promoting equality and human rights in the UK and Germany, and to inform the European agenda on these issues.

Professor Maleiha Malik, KCL and EDF Research Network, welcomed participants and the seminar was chaired by Professor Lizzie Barmes, Queen Mary University of London, Co-chair, EDF Research Network. Speakers were:

  • Professor Sandra Fredman QC honoris causa FBA, Oxford University and EDF Research Network
  • Dr Beate Rudolf, Director, German Institute for Human Rights
  • Dr Iyiola Solanke, School of Law, University of Leeds
  • Philip Oltermann, The Guardian and author of ‘Keeping Up With the Germans: A History of Anglo-German Encounters’
