Just Fair and Doctors of the World paper: Right to Health for All

The Home Office should not have access to NHS patients’ data, and NHS professionals should not be expected to guard our borders, say Just Fair and Doctors of the World.

In a June 2017 position paper (pdf), both organisations identify data-sharing between NHS and the Home Office as a threat to patients’ human rights.

The paper identifies the right to health of undocumented migrants, especially women, as a particular issue:

“Hundreds of pregnant women without legal status are avoiding seeking NHS antenatal care because of growing fears that they will be reported to the Home Office.’
