On 11 November 2013, the Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF), the EDF Research Network, and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) held a seminar (Word) to launch and discuss new JRF Poverty and Ethnicity Programme research.
Participants from research and third sector organisations, policy makers, and others with an interest in issues relating to poverty and ethnicity were briefed by the authors of three recently-completed research projects, before discussing the implications of the findings and how to use them to inform policy and practice in these areas.
The research discussed at the event addressed In-work poverty, ethnicity and workplace cultures, Caring and Earning (pending publication), and Poverty, ethnicity and social networks.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation programme of work on Poverty and Ethnicity aims to understand the underlying reasons for variations in low income and deprivation among different ethnic groups in the UK and the problems caused. It also aims to contribute towards solutions to these problems.
