Joint Committee on Human Rights: second report on the Immigration Bill

The Joint Committee on Human Rights (JCHR) published a further report on the Immigration Bill on 3 March 2014. The report is the Twelfth Report of the 2013-14 Session, Legislative Scrutiny: Immigration Bill (second Report).

In the report, the Committee ‘expresses significant concerns about the possible use of new powers contained in Clause 60 of the Immigration Bill to deprive naturalised UK citizens of their UK citizenship and leave them stateless’.

The JCHR’s Eighth Report – Legislative Scrutiny: Immigration Bill was published in December 2013.

The Immigration Bill is expected to receive royal assent in Spring 2014.
