Human Rights and Climate Change: SHRC submission on Climate Bill

The Scottish Government launched a consultation on climate change legislation in June 2017.

The Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has responded, recommending that the Government “explicitly integrate human rights into the heart of the legislation.”

This September 2017 submission (doc) focuses on three areas:

  1. The interrelationship between climate change and human rights
  2. How a human rights approach (HRBA) is important to consider in responding to climate change
  3. The relevance of aligning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the new Climate Change Bill.
