Gypsy, Traveller and Roma: Reviewing UK progress on Roma integration

In October 2014, Anglia Ruskin University released a report compiled by Dr Pauline Lane, Siobhan Spencer MBE and Adrian Jones, that dealt with UK progress towards the European Union Framework for National Roma integration strategies.

It is important to note that the EU Framework for the National Roma Integration strategy is an umbrella term that includes Gypsy, Irish traveller and Roma communities as well as other nomadic peoples from across Europe.

The report discusses the discrimination and overt racism experienced by the Roma, Traveller and Gypsy communities in the areas of housing, education, employment, policing and health and discusses the failure of mainstream equality strategies to address the needs of these communities.
