Government Equalities Office report: Gender equality at every stage

‘In the UK today women are, on average, more likely to enter the workforce with higher qualifications than men, but earn less per hour’

This is from a new Government Equalities Office roadmap, published July 2019, on achieving gender equality at every stage of life. The roadmap sets out a vision and recommends actions to tackle the persistent gendered inequalities women and men face across their lives.

The report looks at multiple drivers of inequality, including limiting attitudes to gender, the benefits system, caring responsibilities and more. It recommends driving this agenda forward further through other government initiatives such as the Industrial Strategy, and doing more to understand the intersection of different protected characteristics.
