Research from the Gingerbread finds that single parents are at greater risk of losing jobs when furlough ends this autumn than couple parents, new research has revealed, with childcare demands and precarious jobs already pushing them into in-work poverty.
Lone parents were more likely to be placed on furlough (30 per cent) during the pandemic compared to couple parents (21 per cent), according to the report from charity Gingerbread. Nearly double the rate of single parents worked in the hardest-hit sectors such as hospitality compared to parents with a partner.
