This report explores forces at work that prevent women from experiencing the full spectrum of financial autonomy – and that many of them begin at home.
Findings from the report reveals some stark and perhaps unsurprising truths: that despite mostly wanting to share the burden, the majority of women take on the lion’s share of unpaid care work such as household budgeting and childcare arrangements, ultimately leading to a greater sense of domestic burden in a relationship, and less financial autonomy if they leave it.
It’s important to note that research was conducted in August and October 2019, and that the Fawcett Society postponed its publication in light of the pandemic.
