In our November Policy Forum meeting, we gave a stock-take on the party conference season and an overview of Equally Ours’ key priority areas in the run up to the general election. We then heard from our members about the policy and campaign work that they’ve been doing ahead of the next general election and their own key priorities and demands:
- Kamran Mallick (CEO, Disability Rights UK)
- Alba Kapoor (Head of Policy, Runnymede Trust)
- Zaimal Azad (Senior Campaigns Officer, Fawcett Society)
The overlap in all our speakers’ priorities was obvious, highlighting the cross-cutting nature of the work that we’re all doing and demonstrating the importance of working together to bring about positive change.
For us at Equally Ours, it’s all about working collaboratively with our members – as a pan-equality membership organisation, our collective voice is our greatest strength.
There was a lot of interest at the meeting in continuing to coordinate our work and identify common messages, especially on pan-equality issues such as how Government is organised to deliver our equality and human rights priorities. If you’re interested in being part of this conversation and in shaping our policy agenda for equality and human rights ahead of the next general election, please get in touch with our Head of Policy Tansy Hutchinson at tansy.hutchinson@equallyours.org.uk.
