Equality and Human Rights Commission resource: Equality Act 2010 – Handbook for Advisers

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have published anĀ April 2018 handbook (pdf) on the Equality Act, for those advising on discrimination cases in England and Wales.

The aim of this handbook is to provide a brief overview of the Equality Act 2010 and to act as a reference guide. Advisers are encouraged to use this as a starting point to direct further reading.

The handbook covers:

  • The definition of the nine protected characteristics
  • An overview of different forms of conduct prohibited under the Act
  • How the Act applies in different contexts

ItĀ includes; services and public functions, transport, premises, work, education and associations.
