Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee inquiry: Air quality

Air pollution is the largest environmental risk to UK public health. A cross-party group of MPs want to know whether the COVID-19 pandemic can act as a catalyst for change.

The deadline for responses is 7 August 2020.

The inquiry will look at health inequalities in terms of air pollution which already disproportionately affects disadvantaged communities and the possible link between living in areas of high air pollution and higher death and infection rates from the Coronavirus.

The Committee is revisiting its 2018 Improving Air Quality report and whether the Government’s 2019 Air Quality Strategy and the Environment Bill will deliver the national leadership necessary to deliver the “step change” in how air pollution is tackled in the UK.
