The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) published the draft Age Supplement to the Government in June 2014. This was in order for it to be approved and laid before Parliament as a statutory Code of Practice. As the Government has not yet decided whether to approve it the EHRC has made it available as technical guidance.
The Technical Guidance on Age Discrimination in the Provision of Services, Public Functions and Associations was published in March 2016. It provides examples of how the age ban works in practice. It draws on case law and precedent and it applies to England, Scotland and Wales. It is designed to be read alongside our Services Code.
