EHRC report: ‘The UK and the European Court of Human Rights’

‘The UK and the European Court of Human Rights’ by Alice Donald, Jane Gordon and Philip Leach, was published by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in April 2012.

The report sets out to debunk the myths about the European system of human rights protection and its impact on the UK. The report examines the impact of European Court of Human Rights judgments on the rights and freedoms of individuals in the UK. It also analyses highly-publicised criticisms of the Strasbourg Court, including those provoked by recent controversial judgments in cases involving the UK.

The research was released by the Commission at the Brighton Conference on the European Court of Human Rights held on 19 and 20 April 2012.
