EHRC follow-up report on older people and human rights in home care

On 8 October 2013, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) published a report reviewing the 25 recommendations the Commission made in its 2011 formal inquiry into older people and human rights in home care.

According to the review, local authorities should change how they commission home care, and in particular ensure that workers are paid the minimum wage.

Close to Home: An Inquiry into older people and human rights in home care was published by the EHRC in November 2011. It contained disturbing evidence that the poor treatment of many older people is breaching their human rights.

The research, related guidance and other material are available on the EHRC website.
