Early Day Motion on the funding of the Equality and Human Rights Commission

A Early Day Motion tabled by Sandra Osborne MP in June 2011 states that ‘That this House is deeply concerned that the Government is ignoring the result of its own consultation on the future of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the majority of respondents who urged against cutting the funding and remit of the body’.

Early Day Motions (EDMs) are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. However, very few are actually debated. EDMs allow MPs to draw attention to an event or cause. MPs register their support by signing individual motions.
