Cabinet Office consultation outcome: Access to Elections – Call for Evidence

The Cabinet have released their response to the Call for Evidence : Access to Elections, in August 2018.

The response includes actions to be taken forward, produced in partnership with the Government-chaired Accessibility of Elections Working Group which includes representatives from organisations acting on behalf of disabled people and from bodies which oversee and conduct elections and referendums.

End Violence Against Women response: Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill Consultation

‘The proposals [for the Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill] are narrow and still fail to guarantee women will be protected’. 

This is according to April 2018 response from End Violence Against Women (EVAW) on the proposed Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill (pdf).

EVAW encourages others to read their working response to the consultation and make their own submissions. The consultation closes on 31 May 2018.

Equality and Human Rights Commission response: Department for Education’s Consultation on Sex and Relationships Education and PSHE

The Equality and Human Rights Commission have published their response to the consultation on the changes to teaching of sex and relationship education, and PSHE, in February 2018.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission recommends:

Schools should take a rights-based approach to the whole-school environment, by addressing all subjects from the perspective of ensuring respect for individuals’ human rights
The Department for Education should improve training and guidance for teachers so that they can more comprehensively consider the needs of all pupils
When faced with requests to withdraw, schools should ask parents to state in writing their reasons for wishing to withdraw their child.
