End Violence Against Women and Southall Black Sisters report: Violence Against Women and Girls – Protecting Womenโ€™s Human Rights and Holding the State to Account

More than 100,000 women and girls in the UK are at risk of and living with the consequences of female genital mutilation, forced marriage and so called โ€˜honour-basedโ€™ violence.ย 

This is according to the October 2017 report fromย End Violence Against Women (EVAW) and Southall Black Sisters.ย

The Court of Appeal haveย restated the principle that ‘a child is foremost a child before he or she is a refugee.’This was part of aย July 2017 judgementย from Lord Justice Underhill ย and Lord Justice Gross. The guidance aims toย ensure that children and other vulnerable persons have an effective right of access to Immigration and Asylum Tribunals, and a voice in the proceedings.
