On 31 March 2010, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted a recommendation on measures to combat discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Legislation on incitement to hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation was passed in May 2008.
The Civil Partnership Act came into force on 5 December 2005 and the first ceremonies took place on 21st December.
