Care Quality Commission strategy for 2016-2021

The Care Quality Commission published its strategy for 2016-2021 in June 2016, as well as a summary for each sector.

As part of the new strategy it has announced that hospitals are to be inspected more frequently but less rigorously. Hospitals where there are serious concerns will continue to be fully inspected though the best performing hospitals and GP practices may only be inspected once every five years. Also, inspectors will concentrate on core services provided by hospitals, such as A&E and critical care, and will no longer examine in detail how a wide range of departments are doing.
